Founded in 2005, the EBVA has a membership roster that includes some of the Bay Area’s most enthusiastic, knowledgeable and highly skilled urban winemakers, many of whom left other careers to pursue professional winemaking full-time.
United by the axiom that one need not live in a vineyard to make fantastic wine, the EBVA winemakers together produce wines of nearly every imaginable varietal and style, and offer them at prices ranging from moderate to top shelf. These pioneering local winemakers carry on a tradition of East Bay winemaking that dates back to the 19th century, during the California Gold Rush of 1848.
Because EBVA wineries are located near the major vineyards of Northern and Central California, which produce some of the world’s best grapes, their wines represent fruit sourced from a broad range of vineyards – from Paso Robles in the south to Napa and Sonoma counties in the north.
The EBVA is a true collaboration among the East Bay’s urban wine pioneers. Its members openly share resources, winemaking facilities and their own expertise with their fellow vintners. It is a partnership of many talented individuals, working together for a common goal – to bring great wines to the heart of this amazing urban landscape that we call home.
